FAQ - Patients

The Web-Accessible Population Pharmacokinetics Service – Hemophilia (WAPPS-Hemo) is a centralized,  actively moderated database developed at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada, that provides participating hemophilia centres with a simplified pharmacokinetic (PK) assessment for their patients.

Since the project began in 2014, WAPPS-Hemo has been dedicated to providing the knowledge and tools necessary to make individual PK assessment for hemophilia patients easily accessible to healthcare providers. To meet this objective, WAPPS-Hemo is able to provide PK estimates for a wide range of factor concentrates.

myWAPPS is the companion app to WAPPS-Hemo, intended for patient use. myWAPPS shows predicted plasma concentration of clotting factor, in real time, after an infusion. myWAPPS is activated by a heathcare professional at a hemophilia center, who connects the individual PK profile of the patient to his account. After that, myWAPS requires the patient to record infusions to be able to forecast plasma activity levels.

myWAPPS is available for individuals with hemophilia A or B, of all ages, and on any concentrate.

Yes! myWAPPS and WAPPS-Hemo is available globally. If myWAPPs has not been translated into your language, please let us know and we will happily look into adding it.

To activate myWAPPS you need to undergo a PK study where a few blood samples are taken after an infusion. If a PK study has already been completed, you only need to give your doctor an email address that you would like to use to activate your myWAPPS account – all the rest will be done for you!

Please contact a healthcare professional at your hemophilia treatment centre to activate a myWAPPS account for you. Once your healthcare professional has entered the required information, you will receive an activation email to the email address that you provided, with a link to complete your myWAPPS registration.

Your myWAPPS account must be activated by a healthcare professional.

myWAPPS is available from the Apple App store and Google Play.

After you have activated your account and created your password, you can download myWAPPS and login. Record your most recent infusion to begin. You will immediately see your estimated current factor level, and afterwards you are all set! Continue to record your infusions as they are performed.

While myWAPPS will record any infusion information that you input, your regimen can only be set by a healthcare professional through the WAPPS-Hemo website.

To reset your password, please select ‘Forgot Password’ on the log in screen of myWAPPS. You will be sent an e-mail with a link to the WAPPS-Hemo website to update your password.

If you would like to change the email address that you used to activate your account, you must contact a heathcare professional at your hemophilia treatment centre and provide the updated email to make the change.

Yes. myWAPPS is currently available in English, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese and German. To change your language settings, go to Settings, then Options – Language.
